The Arts at Work envisions the future model for best practices in nonprofit arts and culture organizational and workplace management to include:

  • distributed leadership that values collaboration and encourages participation in an organization-wide feedback loop

  • performance standards requiring all employees to treat one another with civility and to hold one another accountable in its absence

  • recognition of the undeniable value of every worker to the success of the organization

  • an active and measurable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and

  • a competitive, livable wage for all

We call this a human-centered arts workplace.

Arts workers call it a great place to work.
